After three decades of calm seas
I have come across a turning point
All my energy’s been drained out
A dying man for someone to anoint

Now I know what stands before me
Have to burn the bridges all at once
It’s the only chance to surface
And regain control over my course

I must come through tornado’s eye
Abandon all days of yore
I must swim with the shifting tide
Arrive in an alien shore

I must be ready to leave behind
The canons I held to before
I must awaken the beast inside
That knows how to fear ignore

As I wander the halls
Of a mind so deranged
I heed to life’s call
“Take hold of the inescapable change“

Though painful and stern
This passage might be
I’m willing to burn
And wipe off the ashes of yesteryear

I hope that all the angels and spirits will stay by my side
I hope that all my dreams will come true
When the turn of the year is due

Here is where I draw the line
Start off my journey anew
To reach for the real me
And find the cardinal truth

I hope I won’t subdue to the old standards I used to know
I hope this irreligious devotion
Will drive my perennial motion

Here I forge the great divide
Give birth to somebody new
To reach for the love supreme
And find salvation with you
